Kit Kat Time! SPECIAL EDITION!

The internet has gone crazy for Kit Kat's newest creation.  See here, here, and here for just a few examples.

Why I didn't rush out an immediately buy these, I did pick some up yesterday while I was at the コンビニ but they're not exactly flying off the shelf.

Here's some information about the 日本酒 Kit Kats:
  • They are white chocolate.
  • They have actual alcohol powder in them (0.8%).
  • They are not recommended for children (it says this on the package).
  • 日本酒 is what you might call sake.

First, I was overwhelmed by the smell.  These smell like actual sake (or that odd guy on the train at 2:15 in the afternoon).  They taste like it too (albeit a sweet version of it).  So congrats Kit Kat, you did what you set out to do, alcohol chocolate.

Here's a disclaimer.  I don't like sake.  I ate this for the blog (actually choked down is more like it).  I'm not a fan of these.  Maybe if you like sake, you'll like these.

(I'm a bit sad that this wasn't #50 on the list.)

Here's the list:

Kit Kat time!

I'm getting on a plane soon to head back to my home in the Land of the Rising Sun so I thought what better time than now to review the last of the Chocolatory Kit Kats.  Also, I'm taking a break after shoving a good chunk of America into my suitcases.

These are the final two purchased from the Chocolatory.

The top one is Chili and Passion Fruit.  Nestled in dark chocolate, the chili flavor provides a slight kick, and it's not too overpowering and pairs nicely with the sweetness of passion fruit.  I really liked this one.

The bottom one is Strawberry Maple.  The chocolate is strawberry flavored and to be honest I couldn't taste the maple at all.  It just tasted like strawberry to me.

That's it for me.  See you next time from Japan!

Here's the list:

  1. Cheese
  2. Bitter Almond
  3. Ramune
  4. Berry Pomegranate

Greetings!  Today I'm talking Kit Kats.  The husband and I made a special trip to the Kit Kat Chocolatory in Ikebukuro.  There we picked up some unheard of Kit Kat flavors that I'm happy to review for you today.

First pictured is Green Tea & Kinako.  I really liked this one.  I'm a big fan of kinako and this shone through and complimented the green tea flavor nicely.

Next pictured is Pistachio & Raspberry.  Unfortunately, I couldn't taste the pistachio flavor at all.  The raspberry is very overpowering.  It wasn't bad.  I was just disappointed.

Stay tuned for two new Chocolatory flavors!

Kit Kat time!

Hello, today we're talking Kit Kats!

It's a special day because I've passed the 40 mark on Kit Kats sampled!

First is Sweet Potato:

It's recommended that you bake this Kit Kat which I did but not before trying it pre-baked.  When baked it loses a lot of it sweet potato flavor for some odd reason as the sweet potato flavor was stronger before baking.  It was good baked though, so you can decide what to do with these if you can still find them.

Here is Premium Hazelnut:

Oh my was this delicious!  One of the most delicious Kit Kats I've ever had.  Even one of my coworkers was so surprised by how yummy this was.

Next, two special Kit Kits from the Chocolatory store in Tokyo Station which my wonderful husband bought for me.

Pictured you see Orange Cocktail Noir and Butter.

Now the butter was good.  I'm not so sure it tasted like butter.  Maybe butter you've mixed with sugar when you're baking cookies or something.

The Orange Cocktail Noir had a very strong flavor, very strong orange and very strong dark.  It was okay, not my favorite.

Here's the list:
  1. Cheese
  2. Bitter Almond
  3. Ramune
  4. Berry Pomegranate
  5. Apple Vinegar
  6. Peach
  7. Green Tea
  8. Tiramisu
  9. Wasabi
  10. Vanilla
  11. Sakura Matcha

Kit Kat time!

Apparently there was a fatal error in my list.  It turns out #17 which I had marked as Cookies and Cream was actually labeled "White" so I've corrected it.  I don't know it TASTED like Cookies and Cream at the time.  How wrong I was because I tried the actual Cookies & Cream Kit Kat and boy was it much different and much better!

Cookies & Cream:

Yep, this was excellent.  So good!  Definitely try this if you can!

Next was Chocolate Mint Ice:

Another winner in the Kit Kat family.  The mint was cool and refreshing.  Perfect for summer.

(Holy cow almost 40 Kit Kats sampled!)

Here's the list:

Kit Kat time!

I have some new Kit Kat flavors to share with you.  The first three I picked up at Narita before my trip to The States.  I always like to give people Kit Kats back home because they only have two flavors of Kit Kats there.

Anyway, here's what's new!

First is Apple:

It was okay.  Not my favorite.

Next is あずきサンド or Red Bean Sandwich:

This one was super weird and borderline gross.  Definitely not a fan.

Finally, Tokyo has new Kit Kats this month, Cheesecake:

The outer package recommends you toast them.  I did that.  They were pretty good toasted.  I also tried them regular style.  They didn't taste much like cheesecake though.  They tasted really lemony.  I liked them better toasted.

Here's the list:
  1. Cheese
  2. Bitter Almond
  3. Ramune
  4. Berry Pomegranate
  5. Apple Vinegar
  6. Peach
  7. Green Tea
  8. Tiramisu

Kit Kat Time!

Hello everyone!  It's that time again.  It's Kit Kat Time!

So throughout Japan there are regional flavors of Kit Kats which you can only buy if you visit that region (or Narita for certain flavors).  See here.  Fortunately, my fiancé's hometown is Kobe so he picked up some Kobe Pudding Kit Kats for me.

Unfortunately, I didn't like them very much.  They are SUPER sweet which if I say that it says a lot because I love sweet things.  I'm going to try them toasted and hopefully, they will taste better.

Finally, Kit Kat Dark came out in 2011 but I have avoided it because I generally don't like dark chocolate.

Kit Kat Dark are actually really nice.  They are slightly sweet and the dark chocolate isn't too bitter.  (In actuality they call these "adult" Kit Kats.  Seriously, that's what the package says, but I can't bring myself to call them that, so I'll just call them Dark.)

Here's the list:

  1. Cheese
  2. Bitter Almond
  3. Ramune
  4. Berry Pomegranate
  5. Apple Vinegar
  6. Peach
  7. Green Tea
  8. Tiramisu

Kit Kat time!

Hello!  I have some new Kit Kats for you today.

First, when I dropped my mom off at Narita I picked up Hokkaido Red Bean Kit Kat.  I was hoping it would be red but it was just chocolate colored and tasted like red beans.  It was okay.

Next, Orange Peel Kit Kat popped up at my localコンビニ and let me tell you orange and chocolate make a lovely combination!

I quite highly recommend trying this one.

Here's the list:

Kit Kat time!

Boy Japan certainly has been lagging with its Kit Kat flavors.  Hardly any new Kit Kats have graced the shelves these days.  I was able to try two new flavors.

First is Strawberry Cheesecake:

This was just okay.  Not the best I've ever had.

Next this one just came out, Baked Kit Kats:

Holy crap who thought of these?!?!?  Put a Kit Kat in the oven and char it until it looks like this:

And oh my yummy amazing goodness.  Definitely a favorite of mine.
  1. Cheese
  2. Almond
  3. Ramune
  4. Berry Pomegranate

Two new Kit Kat flavors popped up recently.

Ramune
Berry Pomegranate
Apple Vinegar
Peach

Raspberry

Kit Kat Time!

I had such high hopes for Kit Kats in Japan.  I had these delusions that I'd be able to try new Kit Kats all the time.  Sadly, this has not been the case.  Green Tea Kit Kats appeared at my local supermarket recently, but I didn't buy them because I've already tried them.  It's obvious I like the novelty of trying and writing about unusual Kit Kats more than I like the actual Kit Kats.  Strange?

Anyway, on a particularly beautiful day, I rode my bike to my favorite thrift store and Don Quixote.  It just so happens that Donki had special World Assort Kit Kats featuring two flavors, Orange and Hazelnut.

Orange:

I was hoping that these would be orange colored like the Citrus ones.  However, they are chocolate with orange filling so the taste is orange chocolate.  And even though they are not orange colored, they are still quite tasty.

Hazelnut:

Well, I didn't taste much hazelnut.  The nut flavor is very very mild almost non-existent.   Not bad but not the best Kit Kats I've ever had.

Here's my list:

Cheese
Almond
Ramune
Berry Pomegranate
Apple Vinegar
Peach
Green Tea
Tiramisu
Wasabi
Vanilla
Sakura Matcha
Strawberry
Raspberry
Vanilla Ice
Caramel
Pumpkin Pudding
Cookies and Cream
Cinnamon
Citrus
Japanese Chili
Blueberry Cheesecake
Purple Sweet Potato
Rum Raisin
Brown Sugar Syrup
Orange
Hazelnut

Kit Kat Time!

Since I visited Narita, I thought what better time to stock up on Kit Kats.  I'm glad I got to try some flavors I might not have gotten the chance to otherwise.

First Cinnamon:

By far one of my favorites.  Cinnamon was really quite good.

Next is Citrus:

So this pretty much tasted like an orange cream pop.  Remember those?  I really wish I could have eaten the whole box.  So delicious!

Japanese Chili:

Yeah you read that right, Japanese chili.  Um, this was bizarre.  I know people put chili in chocolate sometimes but the fact that this candy bar was spicy was just wrong.

Blueberry Cheesecake Mt. Fuji Special:

This was just odd.  It didn't taste much like cheesecake or blueberry.  Long after I finished it, I was still trying to figure out what it tasted like.

Purple Sweet Potato:

Purple sweet potato seems to be a popular flavor.  In the summer, the flavor materialized as an ice cream.  The Kit Kat tasted only slightly potatoey.  I rather liked this one.  It wasn't as weird as it sounds.

Run Raisin is next:

Talk about weird.  I didn't taste much raisin but it had a weird alcohol taste.  I was not a fan of this flavor.

Finally Brown Sugar Syrup:

Japanese brown sugar has a strange taste to it.  I'm not sure what it is but it doesn't taste like American brown sugar which sometimes I think I need to import.  Anyway, these Kit Kats taste just like Japanese brown sugar so if you like that, you'll like these.

Here's my list:

Cheese
Almond
Ramune
Berry Pomegranate
Apple Vinegar
Peach
Green Tea
Tiramisu
Wasabi
Vanilla
Sakura Matcha
Strawberry
Raspberry
Vanilla Ice
Caramel
Pumpkin Pudding
Cookies and Cream
Cinnamon
Citrus
Japanese Chili
Blueberry Cheesecake
Purple Sweet Potato
Rum Raisin
Brown Sugar Syrup

Now if I could only track down some soy sauce Kit Kats...

Kit Kat time!

Today is positively hideous.  It's been raining all day and I swear it was full dark at 4:30.  What better day to write about Kit Kats!  I realize that I haven't updated this section of my blog since July!  You'd think being in Tokyo would afford me the opportunity to try many different flavors of Kit Kats.  Unfortunately, this is not the case.  Aside from Narita, I have no idea where to find the funky flavored Kit Kats.  I've scoured all my local and non-local stores as well.  Any idea where I can get 'em?

However, I have managed to track down a few Kit Kats.

First is Caramel:

I'll be honest.  I love caramel.  Caramel everything.  I'd have it in my house like a salt lick if I could.  That said, this Kit Kat didn't quite do it for me.  It seemed to be missing something.

Next for Halloween Pumpkin Pudding:

Cute packages, of course, but didn't taste much pumpkin here.

Finally, Cookies and Cream:

These are quite delicious!  They taste like inside out Oreos.  Definitely a fan of these!

Cheese
Almond
Ramune
Berry Pomegranate
Apple Vinegar
Peach
Green Tea
Tiramisu
Wasabi
Vanilla
Sakura Matcha
Strawberry
Raspberry
Vanilla Ice
Caramel
Pumpkin Pudding
Cookies and Cream

Well, I'm going back into hibernation because it's wet and cold!

July 15, 2012

Kit Kat time!

I wouldn't be properly lost in Japan without stumbling upon interesting new Kit Kats from time to time.  Two new ones:

Raspberry

Vanilla Ice (not ice cream just ice)

Raspberry was really good and tastes surprisingly like raspberry and so far it's up there with my faves.

Vanilla Ice was also good.  I am not sure what the Ice is supposed to taste like (water?) but it tasted like vanilla to me.

Here's the ever growing list:

Cheese
Almond
Ramune
Berry Pomegranate
Apple Vinegar
Peach
Green Tea
Tiramisu
Wasabi
Vanilla
Sakura Matcha
Strawberry
Raspberry
Vanilla Ice

I must find new Kit Kats!  Just wait till the new Pepsis come out!

March 25, 2012

Oops sorry...

I had all these notions of updating my blog this week, all of which failed.  I would have done it yesterday but I don't know.  I ate some cream cheese that was a bit past expiration and I think that's what made me deathly ill.  I did eat dinner last night but I was fighting, fighting to keep it down.  I thought it was a good idea too look on Pinterest but everyone's pictures of food made me sicker.  I was in bed all night.  I think also earlier that day I way overdid it.  I was running around doing so much stuff and out in the heat without eating and all that just pushed me off the sickness precipice.  Anyway, I am feeling better now but I've decided to take it easy today.  I want to go to Bookman's and sell some more of my books but I think I'll wait and see what the day brings.  I have a terrible headache and my stomach is still iffy.

Anyway, on to what you came here for...the fashion!

Monday:

On second look, I probably should have worn leggins instead of jeans.  Anyway, dress and shirt from HushHush (Japan), scarf & boots Kohl's, jeans Colleen (Old Navy).

Tuesday:

Shirt & pants Target, shoes Charmant (Japan).

Wednesday:

I love this dress so much.  I don't love that it's linen and wrinkles when you look at it.  Plus, I hate ironing.  Dress Uniqlo, necklace made by me, leggins & boots Kohl's.

Thursday:

I decided not long after putting it on that I don't really like this sweater.  I just don't like the way it looks/fits.  Jeans Colleen (Target), boots Kohl's, sweater (Colleen) & shirt Target, necklace ????.

I want to end with Kit Kats since I went to Japan and I, of course, had to feed (literally) my Japanese Kit Kat obsession.

Here's what I tried:

You're looking at Strawberry, Sakura Matcha and Vanilla Kit Kats.

First of all, Vanilla beats Cheese as my new favorite flavor.  So delicious!  Sakura Matcha was really good too and Strawberry was just okay.

Here's the ever growing list:

Cheese
Almond
Ramune
Berry Pomegranate
Apple Vinegar
Peach
Green Tea
Tiramisu
Wasabi
Vanilla
Sakura Matcha
Strawberry

Brief update on "the freeze."  Greatly resisted Goodwill Sale Day.  The only purchases this weekend were food and gas (necessities).  Good so far.  I'll keep you posted!

I'd like to welcome my new follower: Yunie Gal Circle!  Thanks so much!  I hope you like it here!

I hope you had a nice week and an even nicer weekend.

February 25, 2012

祭...

Today was the Matsuri Festival which is quite redundant.

I wore this:

Top Colleen collection, shorts Goodwill and shoes Kohl's.

These are my favorite pics from today:

I also found these:

Tiramisu and わさび yes that's Wasabi Kit Kat!  So add both of those to the Kit Kat list:

Cheese
Almond
Ramune (nasty)
Berry Pomegranate
Apple Vinegar
Peach
Green Tea

Tiramisu was good and Wasabi tasted surprisingly like wasabi if it were sugar coated.  Weird.  I think Cheese has been my favorite (and you'd be surprised to know it doesn't taste much like cheese).

I love that the Kit Kat list has grown by leaps and bounds!

From Friday:

Sweater Colleen collection (Target), necklace Lia Sophia, jeans and boots Kohl's.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!  I'm gonna rest for the remainder of it.
