Lipton Tea...

Hi folks!  I'm writing to you from a cold and rainy December day in Tokyo.  No worries though because it's my day off so I've got a heating pad on my back and I'm drinking hot tea and sitting under the covers.

Meanwhile, let's talk about some cold teas.

First, I tried White Peach Mix Tea:



It was okay.  I really felt that the grape flavor was way too overpowering.

Next is from the Premium Series.  Generally, I tend to dislike the Premium Series, but this one is an exception.  Chocolat Milk Tea:



If you really love tea forget it, this tastes exactly like chocolate milk although I read the ingredients, and it does have tea in it.  It's so yummy.  If you're in Japan now, pick this up for sure!

Lipton Tea: Special Edition!

Hi all!  It's officially fall!  The weather is cooler.  People are actually wearing knit caps for a reason.  And pumpkin things and fall flavors are popping up.  Japan doesn't get as crazy about fall as America does (pumpkin pasta sauce anyone? Yes, that's a thing), but there are a few fall flavors in stores.

Normally, I don't review Lipton in the bottle but I thought this deserved a special mention.

Now I wasn't sure about this but holy smokes Sweet Pumpkin Tea Latte is quite delicious.  I even love the Halloween decor on the bottle.  If you have the chance, try this.  It's so good!

Next, Milk Tea is not new but they have some cute packaging for Halloween.  I can't help it.  I just love it.

Happy 60 teas!  Wow.  I can't believe I've sampled 60 Lipton teas in only 3 years.  By that math I hope the number will have doubled in the next 3 years.

Anyway, two new teas for you.

First is Pineapple Mix Tea:

So they claim to have passion fruit, lemon, and pineapple in there.  I don't know.  I can't taste them.  The pineapple taste overpowers the other flavors but not in a bad way.  The taste is actually light and refreshing.  It was nice!

Next is Apricot Mix Tea:

This one claims to have apricot, mango, and orange.  I couldn't taste anything except apricot, and it's got a light, refreshing apricot flavor.

Hi all!  We are knee deep in summer here.  It's HOT and humid which makes it feel more hot, so how about some teas to try to cool things down!

First is Green Fruits Tea:

I assume from the box that there's pear, mint, and limes in there.  I can't be sure as no one flavor stuck out.  Regardless, it's a light and refreshing tea.  Not bad.

Next is Wanashi tea:

In English "wanashi" is Asian pear or apple pear.  This tea was okay.  Not my favorite.

Hello!  Spring has sprung evident by the gorgeous and wonderful smelling plum flowers everywhere which means cherry blossoms aren't far behind.

With that I have two new teas for you.

First is White Tea Latte:

Upon first glance my husband thought that was a picture of butter.  It's actually white chocolate.  I had initially tried this after eating, and it was gross, but once the food taste disappeared, it was okay.  Not the best but drinkable.

Next is Hyuganatsu Tea:

I had to Google this because I had no idea what a hyuganatsu was.  Obviously from the picture it's a citrus fruit.  It's native to Japan.  Anyway, the tea had a light citrus taste, and it was pretty good.

HAPPY 50 TEAS!  I've hit another milestone.  I've managed to sample 50 teas.  That's pretty awesome if I do say so myself.  Also, it's a good thing I love tea.

First is Lychee Tea:

Now I'm not so sure what the difference is between this and Thailand Lychee Tea.  Again, I'm not the world's biggest lychee fan so this was not my cup of tea (literally).

Next is Winter Tea Punch:

I really enjoy this tea/punch concoctions.  This is no different.  Boasting made with "blood oranges" on the label, this is just delightful!  (In fact, I saw this on Lipton Japan's Facebook page and I've been searching for it since.  I just found it at my コンビニ this morning.  Incidentally I knew it would appear soon because a blank shelf space appeared last night.)

Hello all!

I have a couple new teas for you this month.

First is another from the Green Tea Series, Green Tea & Citrus:

I think it's safe to say that anything from this series is bound to be good (unless the addition is one I don't like, muscat, for example).  This one is another winner.  It's light and refreshing.

Next, Tokyo welcomed me home last night (as I was vacationing in the Philippines) with Caramel Tea Latte:

Lipton has made many caramel efforts but this one I think is the best one so far.  The other caramels were just off.  The caramel in this tea is light and not too overpowering and it meshes nicely with the tea and milk.

Yeah so sorry about not updating my blog in like forever.  (Some of these teas date back to March and April so I'm sorry if you can't find them currently.)  On to the tea!

First is Gold Kiwi Tea:

This tea was light and refreshing and not overpowering at all.  I liked it.

Next was Bitter Caramel Tea Latte:

Too strong and too bitter.  Was not a fan.

Next Green Tea & Muscat:

I still don't like muscat so I didn't really like this one.

Green Tea & Peach:

While this was out I drank it almost every day.  Unlike the regular Peach Tea this one has a light peach flavor.  It had been on shelves about a week ago but I noticed it's since disappeared, sadly.  This was definitely one of my favorites. 

Finally, Extra Black Tea Latte:

Not as strong as the Caramel one though it did have a strong flavor.  This one was just okay in my book.

Hello!  I have some new teas to share with you.

First, is American Tea Lemonade from the Tea's Travel series:

Now my memory might not be perfect but I'm pretty sure this is the exact same recipe as 50/50 Tea Lemonade.  Now I'm not complaining, of course.  That was one of my favorite teas.  This one is no different.  Delicious!

Hojicha is roasted green tea.  This was tea was actually pretty good and the more I sipped it, the more it grew on me.

Hello!  I have some teas for you!

First is Turkey Apricot Tea part of the Tea's Travel series:

It was okay.  The apricot taste was really light, so it didn't seem too flavorful.

Next is Milk Caramel Tea:

Oh I had such high hopes for this one since I love caramel flavored anything.  I was just disappointed though.  The flavor was off.  It just didn't taste right.

Finally is Navel Orange Tea:

Orange is a popular flavor in Tokyo during the winter.  About this time last year was when Mikan Tea surfaced.  At first I thought Navel Orange Tea was too strong but as I continued drinking it, it kinda grew on me.

Hi all!  I have some new teas for you.

First, from the Tea's Travel series is Thailand Lychee Tea:

I guess it's good if you like lychee.  (I'm still on the fence about it).  This tea was a bit bitter for my tastes.

Next is Sweetened Condensed Milk Tea.  No I'm not kidding.  That is really the flavor.

Well, the verdict is, it's not the worst tea I've ever tasted.  Then again, it's not the best tea either.  If you try it, you tell me what you think.  The funny thing is is that sweetened condensed milk isn't a huge thing here.  Am I wrong?  Is it really a mega thing?  I've only seen it at a few stores.  I'm always on the lookout because some day I want to try the Pinterest caramel (or dulce de leche for all those purists out there).

It was okay but not the best.  I couldn't really taste the honey.

First is Royal Milk Tea:

Another from the Premium Series and just like the others I couldn't finish this one either.  Too rich for me.

Next is Golden Pineapple Tea:

Nothing says summer like pineapple and here's Lipton with Golden Pineapple.  It was a nice refreshing tea and the pineapple flavor was surprisingly light and not over powering at all.

This tasted pretty much like watered down grapefruit juice.  Not my favorite.

Pretty good for (well let's face it) jam tea.  The orange flavor was really powerful, more so than the Mikan Tea.  In the end, I kinda liked it.

I'm sure this came about to celebrate plum blossom season.  It's quite good (even though I've only had it once).  I'd like to have it again.  This one's a keeper!  (Also, I can't wait to see what appears for sakura season.)

What is wrong with the Premium Series?  I learned my lesson last time.  Of this I only had a few sips.  I'm glad I had the sense not to drink the whole thing.  Not really a fan of this one either.  (Thanks to Ola for the translation help!)

First is from the 50/50 series, Tea & Nectar:

Seriously!  The 50/50 series is the best created.  And the nectar is peach!  Could this be any better? Totally made the Top 5 list.

Next is from the Premium Series Double Shot Luxurious Milk Tea:

More like punch you in the throat milk tea.  I did not like this.  Not at all.  I am not sure if this lil carton was meant to be 2 servings but I drank nearly the whole thing and felt a bit sick.  It's heavy and not in a Back to the Future way.  Definitely not recommended.

Finally is Muscat Tea:

Now I love grapes but I don't like muscat.  Seriously, I have never liked muscat anything so I was not surprised that I didn't like this.  But hey, if you like muscat give it a go.

A vegetarian foodie in Japan...

Hi all!

I had Monday off so I spent the day cooking up a storm!

First look at all these beautiful fruits & veggies I bought:

Nothin' beats fresh ingredients!  And yes Japanese carrots are monsters.

Garlic Soup:

I find pureed soups to be not quite as filling as hearty soups but despite that this was still good.

Chickpea Apple Curry:

Gotta trust M. Stewart to make food to die for.  This is probably the best curry I've ever made.  The apples make it sweet.  You gotta try this one.
